George ‘Bud’ Vana, MD

George ‘Bud’ Vana, MD, is a general pediatrician, adult psychiatrist, and child psychiatrist. Bud is a graduate of Harvard University, and he completed medical school at the University of Vermont and his residency and fellowship training at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island.

He has previously worked to develop a telehealth infrastructure at the Lummi Tribal Health Center in Bellingham, Washington as well as early psychosis programming and contingency management in tribal communities.  He is a child psychiatrist consultant at the Vermont-Child Psychiatry Access Program which is a phone line pediatric and family medicine providers can call to ask questions about their patients related to child psychiatry.  He is also the medical director of Pathways Vermont, a Housing First Agency with offices throughout the state.  He is the co-leader of the Vermont Association of Child and Adolescent Psychiatrists.

His other professional interests include family-based psychiatry, acceptance and commitment therapy, treatment of co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, treatment of developmental disabilities and neurodiverse patients, and integrated medical and behavioral healthcare.

Outside of work Bud enjoys canoeing, hiking, nordic skiing and curling with his family.
