Jane Bensimhon, MSW
Associate Clinician
Accepting new clients.
Jane (she/her) aims to provide warm, open, affirming, respectful, and trauma-informed care to adult clients who are seeking a supportive environment to grapple with challenges, to build their
resiliency, and to work toward their self-determined goals. Jane’s approach is strengths-based and is informed by psychodynamic practice, attachment theory, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral theory. The work with each client is also done through the lens of social justice, seeking to understand the ways that experiences around one’s identity may be impacting their life. Additionally, the work together can involve clients uncovering how learned behaviors over time, particularly from one’s family of origin, may impact their adaptations and coping in their present lives.
Jane is passionate about supporting clients who are navigating complex medical conditions, including cancer, women’s health, and chronic health conditions, as well as health care workers and individuals who are acting as caregivers to others coping with such challenges.
After spending several years in the nonprofit field, Jane sought an opportunity to more directly support individuals facing difficult times in their lives and returned to school to receive her Masters of Social Work. She brings her previous professional and personal lived experience in the medical setting into her approach with clients.
Jane offers in-person therapy out of the Shelburne office with limited availability during the morning and midday on Wednesdays and Fridays, and is able to accept Medicaid, BCBS, Cigna, and MVP
