Currently accepting new clients.

Kate (she/her) is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Vermont.  She earned her Master's in Mental Health Counseling from Springfield College in 2017 and has worked full time as a licensed practitioner since 2020. For over 20 years, Kate's work in various community mental health agencies in Vermont garnered her extensive experience providing trauma-informed care to children and families.

Kate employs a strengths-based and person-centered approach to therapy. She views her clients through the lens of their family system and early experiences in childhood, and feels that progress, growth, and change do not happen in a vacuum. Kate believes deeply in the power of including a client’s family in treatment, whether through joint sessions or simply by acknowledging their impact on one’s past and present life. Through this, Kate helps clients explore the meaning they make of their own lives and the choices they want to make going forward.

Kate works with children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing a variety of emotional struggles including anxiety, depression, and grief/bereavement. She has a particular interest in working with those who are managing chronic illness or a significant loss in their lives. Kate makes it her practice to meet her clients where they are, and believes that a collaborative relationship between clinician and client is essential for change to happen. To build this therapeutic relationship, Kate utilizes methods such as sand tray work, expressive arts, gardening, and games — along with techniques from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), mindfulness, talk therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.

When not working with clients, Kate can be found spending time with her rambunctious family, planting everything that looks like it might possibly grow in her garden, and then creating consumable items from her garden's bounty.

Kate offers office-based, outdoor natured-based, and telehealth session options. She works out of the Shelburne office and is currently able to accept Medicaid, Medicare, BC/BS, and Harvard Pilgrim.
