Meet the co-therapists
Laurel Gray (she/they) is the Assistant Director of Vermont Center for Resiliency. They received their Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Vermont in 2015 and achieved licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in 2018. Laurel Gray also provides individual and group supervision to Master’s level field students and clinicians seeking licensure in the state of Vermont.
Laurel Gray is passionate about Systems Level Work and strives to zoom in and out from direct practice experiences to mezzo & macro practices and Social Work Advocacy. As a result, she “wears many Hats” and “gear shifts” to support community need, elevating person-centered Voices and to increase sustainability in professional roles and in non-profit, Recovery & board-level service work. She is also the part-time Clinical Administrator for Otter Creek Associates & Matrix Health Systems.
In their clinical practice, they work collaboratively with children, adolescents, and adults to develop strategies to help them feel more grounded, resilient, and connected to themselves and their communities. Laurel Gray specializes in supporting people living with anxiety, mood disorders and co-occurring challenges.
Laurel Gray has a deep personal commitment to honoring diversity, is rooted in social justice and anti-racist practices and is striving to grow and learn how to best embody these values one day at a time. They believe in the power and strength of Lived Experience and Intersectionality— and are especially passionate about working with folks in the LGBTQIA+ and Recovery communities.
Laurel Gray works with several therapy dog “co-therapists” (non-shedding Labradoodles) to provide Animal-Assisted Therapy. They practice from Person-Centered, Strengths-Based, Relational, Somatic and Integrative frameworks and provider EMDR therapy with training from the Creative Mindfulness Institute.
They offer office-based, telehealth and walk-and-talk outdoor therapy. Their clients are usually nature and animal lovers since they integrate ecotherapy (nature-based) approaches and animal-assisted interventions into sessions. She will work together with you to try out different therapeutic approaches and will empower you to learn what feels best for your brain, body and heart.
Laurel Gray loves to be outdoors in nature exploring Vermont with their wife, “pack of pups” and their two children. You can expect to find Laurel Gray in the woods hiking, biking, snowboarding, or skiing during their free time as they believe there is energizing, and grounding power outdoors and they love opportunities for adrenaline and fun!
Laurel Gray and their canine co-therapists work with folks at the 112 Lake St Office in Burlington.
Laurel Gray currently accepts Vermont Medicaid, Medicare, BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, Optum, and MVP insurance, as well as self-pay (sliding scale rate discussions welcome as needed).
